After a year or so of searching and a few deals that fell through along the way, GIA signed on for 17,715 sf at 270 Madison Ave. The organization will maintain its headquarters space at 580 Fifth Ave. Terms of the 10-year lease were not revealed.

Murray Hill Properties, owner of 270 Madison, negotiated through its in-house representative, Michael Dubin. CBRE represents the GIA, who created the world-standard "4Cs of Diamond Value," in cities throughout the US.

Danehy tells GlobeSt.com that the deal required "a landlord that allows for traffic and has available space of a certain size." Kleinhandler adds that the space has room for approximately 15 students in a lab-room setting, seven teachers office and a lunchroom. "It was program driven," Daney says.
