In 2002, the township board adopted a plan to create a town center along Thompson Road, an area that now features a mix of light industrial and commercial uses. The town center, as envisioned, would feature restaurants, nightclubs and shops accessed by internal roads and walkways. New residential would be added to help support the new center.
Novi developer Robert Langan's condo complex would be the first development in the town center area since the concept was approved. "Our residential rooftops are going to get commercial developers interested in developing and beautifying Thompson Road," he says. "It's definitely an up-and-coming area."
Langan's preliminary plan is to build ranch condos and two-story townhouses priced under $200,000. Fifty-six percent of the land --mostly forested wetlands--would remain as open space.
