Celanese's decision to expand its local facility is the result of the relocation of its R&D operation in Charlotte, NC. "Having our research and development activities located at our largest manufacturing site will enable us to quickly integrate new developments into our manufacturing operations," explains Celanese vice president of global manufacturing Rebecca Humelsine.
With the relocation come 55 new jobs for area residents. The company, known as the world's largest acetate producer, has been operating its local plant since 1939.
