The new complex will incorporate a casino, restaurants, entertainment venues and a hotel and conference centre. The deal is contingent upon implementation of proposed gaming law reforms , but the developers say the project, if it goes ahead, will further strengthen Sheffield's regional role as a focal point for leisure, sport and tourism. Meadowhall already attracts up to 800,000 visitors per week.
British Land Chairman and Managing Director John Ritblat said: "We are delighted to be working with MGM MIRAGE on such an exciting initiative, and with the opportunity to strengthen our investment in Meadowhall and our commitment to Sheffield."
