Major Office Compound Makes the Grade with Schools

HYATTSVILLE, MD-Two tenants at the 1.4-million-sf office complex known as University Town Center have decided to increase their take on space at the sprawling 48-acre site, which is due to be expanded into a mixed-use development. The University of Maryland University College has tripled its presence at the park by adding 31,000 sf to its 16,000-sf offices. The space is designated to house a handful of academic divisions, including the school’s Office of Distance and Life-Long Learning.

Another educational institution, Prince George’s Community College, has also expanded its presence at UTC. PGCC doubled its space, bringing its total occupancy to 31,000 sf. With an entire floor to itself, the school will add a biology laboratory to its onsite offerings. UTC assistant director of leasing Cheryl Suggs tells GlobeSt.com that current leasing rates are running from $18 to $24.50 per sf.
