ATLANTA-Sprawling metro area is seeing a surge in suburban subdivision permit applications in several nearby counties, including Jackson County, 30 miles northeast of Downtown. Preliminary plans for a total 1,279 apartment units have been filed in the last four months alone in Jackson County.

The Quad Cities Planning commission is scheduled to review the newest proposal Feb. 17, a 347-townhome and single-family venture on 247 acres in the county seat, Jefferson, GA.

Developer Alex Bryan plans to build the project on Old Swimming Pool Road near Old Pendergrass Road but first needs the city to rezone and annex 79 acres. Bryan plans to keep 104 acres as open space, according to his preliminary filed plans.
