Clark is on board to build 1875 Pennsylvania, which will be the central connector, linking existing properties 1801 Pennsylvania Ave. and 1899 Pennsylvania Ave. When work reaches completion in the spring of 2006, the three-structure property--which has different sets of owners--will be known collectively as 1875 Pennsylvania Ave.

Alexandria, VA-based the Mark Winkler Co. and Washington, DC's EastBanc Inc. are the developers behind the new building that will feature 1801 and 1899 Pennsylvania Ave. on either side. In preparation for actual construction activity on 1875 Pennsylvania, Clark is demolishing the former Federal Bar buildings, which carried the addresses of 1815 and 1819. When Clark's work is done, the new Shalom Baranes Associates-designed 13-story edifice will also feature a 76,500-sf three-level parking facility, and will be home solely to law firm Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering, which is also leasing space in the two sister structures.

"The West building will be connected physically by bridges through the 150-ft atrium, and the East building will break through to 1875 on each floor," Clark's Elizabeth Tuico explains to GlobeSt.com.
