The Market Place building is owned and managed by MAV Development, which redeveloped the glass and brick building in 1989. The building won the "Under 100,000 Square Feet" category.
Part of the structure was originally constructed in the 1850s. The building now totals 30,600 sf and is home to six office tenants, four retailers and a restaurant. MAV Development added 11,000 sf to the structure in 1989.
In October 2003, Market Place was awarded the "TOBY" Award for Southeast Michigan. The property will now go on to international competition, vying for the top award among properties throughout North America. The North American TOBY is to be announced in June.
