GlobeSt.com UPDATE: Radisson South to Get $11M Renovation, New Flag

BLOOMINGTON, MN-One of Radisson's oldest and largest hotels in its hometown will become a Sheraton in March--the second LaSalle-owned hotel that has converted to a Starwood hotel since July.

BLOOMINGTON, MN-Radisson Hotel South and Plaza Tower in the city will undergo a $10.5-million renovation as it is reflagged as the Sheraton Bloomington. The move was announced Tuesday by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., which will manage the hotel, and LaSalle Hotel Properties, which owns it.

The conversion will take place next month. Starwood Hotels & Resort is a New York-based chain with 750 properties, including the Westin and Sheraton chains. The upscale 565-room convention hotel, considered by many a flagship hotel in the Minnetonka-based Radisson Hotel chain, is the Twin Cities’ third largest , located on the northwest corner of I-494 and Minnesota 100.

The Sheraton Bloomington will be LaSalle’s second hotel rebranded and managed by Starwood. Last July, LaSalle selected Starwood to manage its 407-room Dallas hotel as a Westin.
