Hilton International owns the rights to the Hilton brand name outside of North America and operates some 400 hotels. The company also announced today the opening of its second hotel in Helsinki, Finland. The newly rebranded Hilton Helsinki Kalastajatorppa in Finland began accepting guests today following a USD $32-million renovation of the property, which was formerly known as Scandic.

The 238-room, five-star property lies in the outskirts of the city center on the coast. Business amenities include 17 conference rooms, the largest of which can cater for up to 550 guests, which have been upgraded to include video conferencing facilities and wireless broadband connections. As well, the former night club "Red Room" has been converted in to a 'Hilton Meetings' center with four rooms and an additional four rooms located in the former Ballroom, and the hotels two refurbished restaurants offering views over the sea, whilst focusing on seafood as a specialty. Finally, a gymnasium and upgraded sauna and swimming pool with access to a private beach has been added to the hotel's offerings.
