Boat Builder Plans Two New Facilities

CADILLAC, MI-Boat manufacturer Four Winns plans as much as 475,000 sf of new industrial space for two facilities in its hometown.

CADILLAC, MI-Michigan boat manufacturer Four Winns is considering two building projects in its hometown of Cadillac that could lead to the construction of 475,000 sf of industrial space. The company plans to build, and has been granted a tax abatement for, a 125,000 sf facility to manufacture boats in its sportboat division using the company’s new VEC Shield technology.

That structure will be built next to Four Winns’ existing manufacturing and corporate center at 925 Frisbie Street in Cadillac, which is located in northwest lower Michigan. Four Winns, a division of Genmar, did not release any construction costs, but the company did receive an $810,000 block grant from the state to support the project.

Four Winns is also considering building a new 350,000 sf facility in a new Cadillac industrial park, James E. Potvin Industrial Park. The firm would build larger, cruiser style boats there.
