ST. PAUL-Marcel Eibensteiner, the head of several real estate development firms in the Twin Cities, says he is resigning as a member of the Metropolitan Council, the 17-member regional planning body. “Under Chair Peter Bell’s leadership, I believe we have made great progress in focusing on the core mission of the Council, building a more cooperative working relationship with local communities and making the Council more accountable for results,” Eibensteiner says in a letter to Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

But Eibensteiner said he simply does not have the time required to adequately represent his district on the Council. Eibensteiner is founder and president of Royal Oaks Realty, Royal Excavating, Imperial Homes Inc. and a number of other real estate and development firms.
