Open Space Award Goes to Engstrom

MINNEAPOLIS-Long-time residential developer gets award from Embrace Open Space, a public awareness campaign sponsored by the McKnight Foundation and a dozen partners.

MINNEAPOLIS-Robert Engstrom, a Twin Cities residential community developer, has been recently given the Champions of Open Space award. This award is part of “Embrace Open Space,” a public awareness campaign sponsored by the McKnight Foundation and a dozen other partner organizations. The award honors individuals, organizations and communities that make a difference in preserving open spaces in the metro region.

“Our goal is to mobilize Twin Citians to become more vocal in public decision making about land use and land protection in this region,” says the Embrace Open Space organization. Engstrom is a long-time developer who recently worked on the 241-acre Fields of St. Croix conservation community in Lake Elmo, MN, and 175 housing units at New Century in Maplewood, MN. The Lake Elmo project preserves more than half of the site for open space and agriculture. Other projects include the New Century development in Maplewood and Summit Place, a three-block urban restoration neighborhood in the Cathedral Hill area of St. Paul.
