2/11/04: The White House released its latest forecast for job growth , predicting 3.8 million new jobs in 2004, up from the original forecast of 2.6 million. Huh? I’m starting to believe there is a serious disconnect between fact and fiction on Pennsylvania Avenue.  T here is no doubt that the economy is on the mend , but job growth is still one of the most pressing needs in this country , and  throwing around numbers that have no relation to  reality is simply  harmful. It ‘ s one thing to be optimistic  and  lift people’s expectations . It’s quite another to throw caution to the wind.  A major part of leadership is to manage expectations in a reasonable manner –not play fast and loose with our hopes .

ARCHON FINANCIAL (DALLAS) Kevin Streufert , Bush Bowden , Rod Reppe Jr. , Mark McClure , Paul Jankovsky Jr. , and Michael Singh have all been promoted to senior vice president. Streufert was most recently vice president and manager of the firm’s securitization team. His colleagues were formerly vice presidents and regional managers of origination and production. Additionally, the firm also promoted John Boerner , Will Flaa , Robert Thaggard and Lori Tittle from loan officers to vice presidents.

MCSHANE CORP. (ROSEMONT, IL) Anna Maria Ryan has been promoted to controller. She was most recently project controller. Ryan has been with McShane since 2002. She will continue to run cash flow and management reporting.
