ROCHESTER HILLS, MI-A $200-million-plus, two-million-sf mixed-use development has been given the preliminary go-ahead for the city. The project, called Madison Park, would feature office, retail and possibly a hotel in several buildings, up to 10 stories tall. The project has been approved in concept by the Rochester Hills City Council.

Bloomfield Hills-based Real Estate Interests Group Inc. is planning the development on 100-acres along M-59 in the area of Hamlin and Adams roads. The site is now partially vacant with the remainder occupied by a softball complex, operated by Suburban Softball Inc. The softball area is on a former landfill that REI will clean up as part of the project. Jon Weaver, a partner at REI, said groundwork at the site would begin this summer. The project is to be built in several phases and should be completed by 2008.
