The managers will focus on their individual mall, freeing up Laurie Baker, who had been overseeing all specialty leasing for the Southfield-based company. Baker will now focus her attentions on Schostak's two dozen or so strip malls and neighborhood centers. The specialty leasing managers at the two malls will also report to her.

The move will also all each of the two malls to move quicker and more aggresively in filling store vacancies on a short-term basis. "We can interact with local retailers quicker with our focus each on one mall," says Mark Voydanoff, the former marketing director at the Macomb Mall who has now been named specialty leasing manager there.

"We know the demographics, and the draw of our mall and will be able to move a little faster when we need to fill a vacancy," Voydanoff says. He adds that Macomb Mall has 18 booth locations, with a variety of leasing options, with three-month minimums. "The nice thing about this is you can get into it with minimal start-up costs, just bring your product in and start showing it to the people walking by."
