The site has already been allocated by the local authority for redevelopment with 1,700 dwellings and a mix of business, commercial, leisure and community uses. The plan has the support of Newport Council and the Welsh National Assembly.

St Modwen Properties executive director Richard Froggatt says the site will ultimately see well over £200 million ($380 million)invested in its regeneration over the next 10 years. "The regeneration of major former employment sites for mixed use developments is a major part of St Modwen's business," he says.
