NAIOP Names Centerra Development of the Year

DENVER-2003 was a busy year at McWhinney Enterprises' mixed-use development in northern Colorado, and the state chapter of NAIOP recently acknowledged that fact with an award.

DENVER-At a Denver luncheon recently, the Colorado chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties picked the 3,000-acre, master-planned development under way in Loveland, CO, as the “2003 Development of the Year.” It marks the first time that a northern Colorado development has been given that honor, says Peter Coakley, VP of real estate services for Centerra’s developer, McWhinney Enterprises.The NAIOP award was based on transactions last year, including:

• The sale of 107 acres to Poudre Valley Health System to build Medical Center of the Rockies, a $220 million regional medical facility featuring heart, trauma, and emergency services. MCR’s initial phase will have a 550,000 sf. hospital and 80,000-sf. medical office building, plus expansion capabilities of up to 1.2 million sf. Construction is scheduled to start in April and will be completed spring 2006.
