For Westin Hotels & Resorts, a division of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., Westin Arlington will mark an entrée into the Virginia market. The hotel joins the Westin Embassy Row and the Westin Grand, both in the District, as the third Westin property in the metropolitan Washington, DC area.

When the hotel doors swing open to visitors on Jan. 1, 2006, the property's scheduled opening date, Westin Arlington will also feature 10,000 sf of meeting space, a separate boardroom, a 140-seat restaurant with a 60-seat lounge, an exercise facility, and a swimming pool. The hotel will be the final component of JBG's three-part, $200-million Arlington Gateway development that includes a 325,000-sf office structure and a 411-unit residential condominium building. The hotel, office building and residential complex will all be linked by the designs of WDG Architecture.

"The presence of an award-winning business hotel like the Westin is indicative of the thriving business community we enjoy here in Arlington," says Arlington County Board chair Barbara A. Favola. "Additionally, the Westin Arlington Gateway is another excellent example of the type of quality, mixed-use development projects that are fulfilling Arlington's clear vision for smart growth.
