Morningside has been an active player in Royal Oak in recent years. The company is currently completing the construction of its SkyLoftsRoyalOak development at Fourth and Main Streets. In 2003, it completed Main Place of Royal Oak, a two-story retail building anchored by a Barnes & Noble bookstore and located across the street from SkyLofts. Based in Chicago, Morningside operates a Detroit regional office in downtown Royal Oak.
The latest project is being designed by the Chicago architectural firm of Otis Koglin Wilson, says David Strosberg, president of Morningside. The development's first floor of the building will be a heated parking garage for over 90 cars and will include a fitness facility.
