Selfridge Air Base Getting $7M Chow Hall

SELFRIDGE ANGB, MI-The Defense Department has begun work on a new $7-million dining facility at this local air base in Harrison Township.

SELFRIDGE ANGB, MI-Chow hall, galley, mess hall. Depending on the color of the uniform, it has different names. Whatever the troops call it, Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township will soon have a new one.

Ground was broken in February on a new $7-million dinning hall at the base, which will serve members of all the military services. Selfridge is unique around the country in that it has members of all five military services assigned to it and is the training center for thousands of military reservists. The 23,000-sf dining hall will be jointly operated by the Air National Guard’s 127th Wing and the Air Force Reserve’s 927th Air Refueling Wing.

“This dining facility will add tremendous value to the greater Selfridge community,” says Maj. Gen. Thomas Cutler, commander of the Michigan National Guard. “We thought long and hard about the location.”
