With construction scheduled to begin in June, the One Library Circle project is slated to rise on the northeast corner of Park Boulevard and K Street. Design plans call for 118 condominiums, 17,200 sf of retail space and 240 parking spaces. Architectural firm Austin Veum Robbins and Parshalle, which Doug Austin heads as chairman and CEO, has designed One Library Circle. Upon completion, the mixed-use facility will stand 43 stories high, which will make it the tallest structure to be built thus far in the East Village, CCDC officials say. Buildout of One Library Circle is expected to occur in June 2006, according to the CCDC website.
The East Village has been particularly ripe for development over the past couple of years, with a wealth of projects presently in the works here. Various new developments are planned for the blocks surrounding One Library Circle, including Barratt American's 184-unit Metrome condo project and a new 378,836-sf main library for the City of San Diego. Metrome is currently rising on the north side of J Street between 11th Avenue and Park Boulevard, while the library is slated to stand on the block bordered by Park Boulevard, 11th Avenue, and J and K streets.
