Mall Owners Propose Residential Addition

LINCOLN, MA-The Rural Land Foundation, a nonprofit land conservation group which owns the Lincoln Mall has submitted a proposal to the town to renovate and expand the mall, build residential units and add parking spaces.

LINCOLN, MA-The city’s major retail center could get a new look, as well as some new residents, if its developers get their way. The Rural Land Foundation, a nonprofit land conservation group which owns the mall, has submitted a proposal to Lincoln’s zoning board of appeals which involves renovating and expanding the mall, building residential units and adding parking spaces.

In its project statement to the zoning board, the foundation notes that the mall has not been updated in 32 years, when it was first developed. It also points out that the town’s board of selectmen asked the foundation to investigate the possibility of adding affordable housing at the mall. “The proximity to public transportation and the retail center make the South Lincoln area an ideal location for additional housing,” says the foundation in the statement.
