Fashion Retailer Expands Distribution Facilities

STUTTGART, GERMANY-C&A Mode KG is expanding its distribution operation here by more than 80%. Less than a year after occupying a 72,000-sf build-to-suit facility at ProLogis Logistic Park Muggensturm, Europe’s leading fashion retailer is taking down another 59,201 sf. Headquartered near Brussels, C&A operates more than 500 retail stores in 12 European countries and employs more than 30,000 people. Under the C&A brand there are 10 exclusive sub-brands, including Clockhouse, Westbury and Your Sixth Sense.C&A now leases about half of ProLogis Logistic Park Muggensturm, which currently holds two buildings totaling 260,486 sf adjacent to the A5 highway. Rhenus AG also occupies one of the facilities. Denver-based ProLogis owns, manages or has under development 240.2 million sf of distribution space in 1,764 facilities in North America, Europe and Asia. In Germany, the company has 32 acres available for development. At full build out, the property could hold another 640,000 sf of space.

The C&A lease is the only lease in Germany announced this year. So far this year, most of the company’s European action has been seen in France, where ProLogis has some 74 acres available for development. In January, ProLogis announced three lease deals totaling more than 750,000 sf.
