James D. Mallam, franchise supervisor for Hooters of America Inc. of Atlanta, GA, says the owner of the local Hooters restaurants is in the midst of negotiating a sale of the business, and there is no firm reopening date set. The Hooters restaurants are owned by LPM Investment Co. LLC, in Freeland. Meanwhile, Bay City Manager Robert V. Belleman says he could not confirm if Hereford & Hops has closed for good or until further notice. Unconfirmed reports say that the restaurant was going to close after the weekend because of financial troubles. The owners, Brown Drake Bay City LLC, owe millions to the city and Independent Bank, city officials say.
