The estimated 50,000-sf center is about 40 miles southwest of Downtown Atlanta. AirTran also confirms an additional 50 employees will be moving to the Atlanta area to work at the company's new 100,000-sf maintenance hangar near the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in May.

Industrial area brokers in a position to know tell GlobeSt.com AirTran officials are also considering relocating the company's headquarters to Atlanta from Orlando at a later date. AirTran officials wouldn't confirm or deny that possibility. The airline has 5,600 workers with 3,600 in the Atlanta area and 400 in Savannah, GA.
