Construction Begins on $800M GM Plant

DELTA TOWNSHIP, MI-The $800-million, 2.4-million-sf assembly plant near Lansing is part of a series of major investments by General Motors in the area in the last several years. The Grand River plant began production in 2000.

DELTA TOWNSHIP, MI-Work has begun on a new $800-million automobile assembly plant near Lansing. The Lansing Delta Township Assembly Plant will be the second new vehicle assembly plant built by General Motors in the greater Lansing area.

The first was the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant, which began production in late 2000.

In addition, a 500,000-sf contiguous metal center is already operational at the site. This facility provides most of the major sheet metal to Lansing Grand River and will support the new assembly plant. All together, GM says it will have invested more than $1.1 billion in the new Lansing area plants by the time all the work is completed.
