Simsiman's new duties as Equus COO will include overseeing the profitable operations of all Equus-related entities and operating companies--responsibilities that were previously handled primarily by the firm's president and CEO Chad Carpenter, according to a company spokesperson. The new COO will also take on the task of developing Equus' infrastructure in a way that will grow the firm into a major real estate investment company. In this capacity, Simsiman will "play an integral role" in Equus' continued growth and development, according to Carpenter.
During his 11-year career in the commercial real estate field, Simsiman has delved into all aspects of the industry, including acquisitions, dispositions, operations, leasing and investment performance. When it comes to asset types, he has worked with office, industrial, R&D, retail and biotech properties throughout California. Simsiman's prior career experience includes positions at Kilroy Realty Corp. and Spieker Properties Inc. in San Diego and AMB Property Corp. in San Francisco. In addition to his new role at Equus, Simsiman also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego's School of Business–Real Estate Institute.
