For half a decade, Newmarket Shopping Center has sat on a 33-acre parcel at 5100 Mercury Blvd., straddling the cities of Newport News and Hampton. The retail destination is presently leased to 85% capacity and boasts four anchors, including Food Lion grocery store, the Dump, Goodwill Super Thrift Store, and A & N. "The Mercury Blvd. corridor provides very attractive demographics, and we hope to generate a lot of interest in this significant shopping destination on the Virginia Peninsula," Brothers notes in a prepared statement. The new ownership has decided on a $2.5 million upgrade of the property.
