County Seeks Design Team for New Airport Terminal

DETROIT-The Wayne County Airport Authority is seeking design teams for a new terminal at the airport. The projected is estimated to cost $428 million.

DETROIT-The Wayne County Airport Authority is seeking architectural/engineering firms to design a new passenger terminal for Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. The North Terminal Redevelopment Project will replace the old Davey Terminal and its pier-style concourses, vacated by Northwest Airlines when it moved to the 97-gate McNamara Terminal/Northwest WorldGateway in February 2002.

The new 29-gate terminal, projected to cost an estimated $428 million, will accommodate the scheduled domestic carriers currently operating out of the Smith Terminal. The WCAA is seeking a design, which will minimize walking distances for passengers, include modern passenger conveyances, provide excellent retail opportunities and allow aircraft to more efficiently taxi between runways and gates.
