The locally based firm, which calls itself the largest private industrial developer in the US, plans to build an estimated $275-million complex of light industrial and commercial space on 661 acres adjacent to Interstate 85. Area construction industry estimators tell GlobeSt.com the project will probably be built for a minimum $50 per sf.

Because of the project's immensity, Pattillo officials have submitted tentative development plans to both the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority and the Chattahoochee-Flint Regional Development Center, agency officials confirm for GlobeSt.com. About 5,000 persons could be employed at the park by 2024, the company's conceptual plans indicate.

The park is being designed to house distribution centers and manufacturing facilities from 150,000 sf to one million sf. The site is about 20 minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and about 10 miles northeast of Downtown Atlanta. The 661 acres are owned by Stone Mountain Industrial Park, a Pattillo-owned company located north of Coweta County's Shenandoan Industrial Park.

Pattillo Construction Co., both a design-build general contractor and developer, has constructed a total 60 million sf of industrial product over its 50-year existence, according to the company's website. The company owns and leases a total 16 million sf in various national markets.
