The Georgia Mountains Regional Development Authority has approved Endeco International's planned 750,000-sf, two-tower condominium community in the northeast portion of the state. Now the development proposal goes to the Gainesville Planning and Zoning Department before it heads for the city council table, area brokers following the venture tell GlobeSt.com.

Castro, founder and president of 10-year-old Endeco International, wants to build 150 hotel rooms and a total 150 condos in a 34-story and a 36-story tower on a 10.6-acre site on the shores of Lake Lanier, near the Thompson Bridge and Old Thompson Bridge roads in Hall County. Condos would sell for $1.5 million to $6 million.

The project has been in the planning stage for the last two years, area brokers tell GlobeSt.com. Local residents continue to oppose the venture, citing the height of the two towers and the traffic impact on the city of 25,000 permanent residents.
