Cullen's newly created group, the Economic Development and Enterprise Services, focuses on aligning GM's economic development plans with the interests of the communities in which GM operates.

Cullen continues to play a leading role in the $500-million transformation of the Renaissance Center and surrounding property. He is also spearheading the development of the Detroit Riverfront as co-chairman of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy and has been recently named chair of the Detroit Convention and Visitors Bureau. The riverfront revitalization will include new walkways, a 25-acre state park, a port authority, plazas, shops and eateries.
