Sharing honors in the award were the Twin Cities firms of KKE Architects, Inc. and Amcon Construction Co., who collaborated on the two-story, 100,000-sf facility. The education center, owned by Shakopee Area Catholic Schools, has students from pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students from its new location on 30 acres at 2700 17th Avenue East.

The main source of funding was donations, volunteer work and an integrated design/build team. Plans for eight unfinished classrooms on the upper level needed to be finished to accommodate up to 900 students. With registration booming, plans for expansion may come sooner than anticipated.

While most public school projects are done with construction budgets in excess of $110 per sf, SACS and the design/build team offered a building solution that met all of the client¹s space and quality needs within an $82 per sf construction budget.
