$63M Mixed-Use Project Planned in Marietta

MARIETTA, GA-In the largest project proposed here this year, Peter Drey/Madison Retail LLC of Atlanta is asking the city for a development order to build Esplanade on Powder Springs, a $63-million mixed-use venture comprising 392,975 sf of commercial space; 29,250 sf of retail; 118 loft-style condominiums; 86 attached townhomes; and 717 parking spaces.

The redevelopment site is on the former Johnny Walker Homes public housing project. The project would be partly funded by the tax allocation district approved last year. Marietta’s district could use $20 million in bonds to be paid off by 2033, city officials confirm to GlobeSt.com. The developer wants $10 million in tax district funding.
