Cohousing Resources, the developer, wants to redevelop the five-story building into 96 residential units and 15,000 sf of commercial space. The units will range from one-to four-bedrooms and will have a starting asking price of $150,000.

According to the precepts of an ecovillage, the emphasis of the project will be on pedestrian living by increasing on-site work and leisure options and being located with close access to shopping and services. The project will be built using "green" construction materials, environmentally sensitive construction materials and "green" building practices, by operating the facility in what the developers term an "environmentally responsible" manner. The project will feature a central clubhouse and the potential for the development of on-site solar and hydro power sources.

Cohousing Resources started in Denmark in the 1970s. The developer is in the process of building two other projects in Boston--Jamaica Plain Cohousing and Mosaic Commons. Winslow Cohousing and the first two neighborhoods at the Ecovillage in Ithaca, NY are the only cooperatively owned cohousing communities in the US.
