The multi-million-dollar development, proposed by a so-far unidentified entrepreneur, would include 70 acres of commercial, 3,300 single-family residents and townhomes, and 70 acres of commercial space. The site is at the Old Alabama and Douthit Ferry roads, southwest of Cartersville.

The city's planning department is drawing up recommendations on the project for the city council to review, as it awaits a decision on the annexation move from the regional development center.

Meanwhile, in Braselton, GA in Jackson County, 35 miles northeast of Downtown Atlanta, the residential and commercial growth surge continues along the Interstate 85 corridor beyond Gwinnett County. Snellville, GA developer Mike Malerba wants to build 371 houses at GA 53 and New Liberty Church Road but first needs Braselton to annex his 126 acres which will house the development.
