In the corporate facilities category, BMC Software Inc. won for a four-building, 1.5-million-sf campus on 52 acres at 2101 CityWest Blvd. The win was attributed to the high-tech environment and on-site amenities like a travel agency, computer store, care and detail center, full service bank, hair salon, fitness centers and three cafes.

The medical office building win went to the 638,000-sf 2450 Holcombe building, the former Nabisco cookie factory bought nearly four years ago by the Texas Medical Center. A renovation retained the facade, including the Nabisco logo, and retooled the interior into offices for the medical group's 42-member institutions. Judges credited the decision to the owner's preservation of the Nabisco history and creative use of interior space. The class A Granite Towers at Sugar Creek took the 100,000-sf to 249,000-sf office building award. Located at 13135 Dairy Ashford on the west side of town, the 204,000-sf, eight-story building was designed by Kirksey & Partners in Houston. Dallas-based Granite Properties is the owner.

The 250,000-sf to 449,000-sf TOBY went to the AIG American General Life Building at 2777 Allen Parkway, just outside of the downtown. The six-story, 301,018-sf building is owned American General Life.

In the one-million-sf category, the winner was Williams Tower at 2800 Post Oak Blvd., owned by Transco Tower Ltd. and managed by locally based Hines. The 21-year-old, class A building is a 64-story, 1.5-million-sf design.

The Esperson buildings at 808 Travis and 808 Walker streets in the CBD won the historic category. The Esperson Buildings, known as the "his and her" office towers, have a combined 570,444 sf, which underwent a $15-million renovation by owner of record, DT Esperson I LP. The 32-story Niels Esperson building rose in 1927 and the 19-story Mellie Esperson Building went up in 1941 as an annex.
