Toronto-based Manulife acquired Westwood Corporate Center in 1996 and developed Phase III in 2000. The property was judged best in the suburban office park low-rise category and also won BOMA's new award, Best of the Best. TOBY stands for The Office Building of the Year.

"This award is intended to grant special recognition to the property management team that boasts the highest total score of the combined portfolio and site inspection scores, irrespective of category type," BOMA corporate communications chief Michael Lewis tells GlobeSt.com.

Lewis adds, "The recognition and publicity this program has earned for BOMA has been incredible, not only for the association as a whole, but for the positive attention it has brought to the property management profession."

Other category winners were AmSouth Bank Center in the 100,000-sf to 249,999-sf column, managed by USAA Realty Co.; Maitland Colonnades, 250,000-sf to 499,999 sf, managed by Jones Lang LaSalle Americas Inc.; and ProLogis Park at Orlando Corporate Center, best industrial office park, managed by ProLogis.

Individual winners, besides Ragans, were Yahrah Yisrael, Assistant Property Manager of the Year, USAA Realty Co.; John Grosse, Building Engineer of the Year, Colonial Properties; Kris Keller, Associate Member of the Year, Resource Orlando; and Allied Security, Vendor Member of the Year. These winners were given BOMA Orlando Classic Awards, called BOCA Awards.

The winners are eligible to compete in the BOMA Southern Region competition in Jacksonville, FL on April 24. The regional winners move to the BOMA International level of competition in Toronto in June.
