WTC Insurance Coverage a Concern Right After 9/11

NEW YORK CITY-The issue of insurance coverage was discussed by the parties involved soon after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, it was revealed in testimony at the World Trade Center trial yesterday.

NEW YORK CITY-During trial testimony in this first case in the ongoing legal battle concerning the World Trade Center site, a former executive at one of the insurers who subsequently advised the legal team for site leaseholder Silverstein Properties, said the issue of insurance coverage was discussed soon after the incident.

Former Willis executive Alexander Vietor testified that right after the attacks, he was asked to head up a Sept. 11 claims task force team to deal with the many clients affected by the WTC collapse. As part of that job function he met in the days after with representatives from Silverstein, among others to discuss the insurance situation, particularly the magnitude of the loss.
