The Washington, DC-based land conservation organization buys or arranges the purchase of strategically located acreage that can be used for parks and recreational activities in various rural and metropolitan locations.

Marane replaced Rand Wentworth, the Trust's state director, in January 2002. Wentworth left the conservation group to head another DC-based, land-oriented organization, the Land Trust Alliance.

Langford is a former member of the Georgia Board of Natural Resources. He is president and founder of the Coosawattee Foundation and serves on the Governor's Environmental Advisory Council and the Georgia Center for Law in the Public Interest.
