Located at 2421 W. Peoria Ave., the Desert Canyon/200 office building is owned by the Alter Group and will serve as Waste Management's national call center for customer service and collections. Desert Canyon consists of a trio of three-story buildings, each 100,000 sf, and available for single- or multi-tenant corporate use. The Alter Group has sold two of the buildings, but retains ownership and management of Desert Canyon/200.
Waste Management's lease enabled the company to expand from 16,000 sf to just under 50,000 sf. The company shares the building with several other tenants, including American Express, which similarly operates a call center from the location.
The 20-acre campus sits in the Black Canyon Freeway (Interstate 17) Metro Center Corridor, offering quick access to downtown and Sky Harbor International Airport. Louis Privitera, a vice president with the Alter Group, tells GlobeSt.com that the high-intensityoffice corridor offers good employment despite vacancy rates that average 18%. "It helped us to obtain 100% occupancy," Privitera says of Waste Management's lease. "It gave us the ability to help a significant tenant to grow and expand."
Ashley Brooks, Keith Lambeth, Charles Miscio, Jim Bayless and Susan Evans of CB Richard Ellis Inc.'s Phoenix office, along with James Whalen, Chris Reynolds and Scott Brandwein in the Chicago office represented the tenant in the deal.
