City Projects Win State Tax Breaks

DETROIT-The Michigan Economic Development Corp. awards more than $1 million in brownfield tax credits to two new projects planned for the city, including a $77,766 grant to help build a 10,000-sf Family Dollar Store at 6300 W. Vernor.

DETROIT-The Michigan Economic Development Corp. has awarded single-business tax brownfield credits for two projects in the city. The credits total $1.1 million.

The MEDC awarded a $1-million tax credit to Jefferson Park North LLC to build 123 homes on Charlevoix, St. Jean and Lemay streets, east of Jefferson, on the city’s east side. The total development is expected to cost about $15 million. The redevelopment should generate new tax base for both the city and state, and help stabilize property values of homes in the area, Gov. Jennifer Granholm says.
