City Loses Patience With Spirit Mountain

BURNSVILLE, MN-The Scottsdale, AZ-based developer still hopes to build a $225-million hotel-training center complex as part of the "Heart of the City" project. However, Spirit Mountain misses a second deadline to buy the land.

BURNSVILLE, MN-A second missed deadline by Spirit Mountain LLC has prompted the city to look for another developer to be the key element of its $400-million “Heart of the City” project. The city council approved a preliminary purchase agreement and redevelopment contract with Spirit Mountain for a hotel and learning center to be located on the MN/Iowa AAA property and adjacent to Nicollet Commons Park.

Spirit Mountain, a developer based in Scottsdale, AZ, had planned to build a $225-million hotel-training center complex. Its plan would have included a 640-unit hotel, a corporate training center, four restaurants, indoor water park and movie theater. The plan also would have included the city’s first public arts center and its 750-seat theater.
