Beaumont plans to begin construction in May on a $25-million two-building complex on M-59 and Tilch Road in Macomb Township. The complex will feature a four-story medical office building and a two-story building equipped for outpatient surgery, physical and occupational therapy and other services, a Beaumont spokeswoman says.
Last week, Beaumont submitted plans to Warren city officials for a proposed building on Common Road, just east of Van Dyke. Financial details of that plan, which calls for a 40,000-sf office building, have not been released.
Here's a run-down on some of the larger projects taking place on the east side:
* St. John Health has invested more than $50 million in its hospital in Warren. Over the past few years, the hospital has opened the Webber Cancer Center, an open-heart surgery facility, new operating room suites and a new intensive care unit.
* St. Joseph's Mercy of Macomb in Clinton Township has grown by roughly 19% in physical space in the past year as part of a $120-million renovation and expansion. In addition, a 100,000-sf medical office building has been constructed adjacent to the hospital.
* Mount Clemens General Hospital broke ground earlier this year on a $50-million surgical center, which is expected to be completed in about 18 months. The hospital also recently opened a new parking deck and has raised more than $10 million toward a planned $15-million cancer center to be constructed in the next two years.
* Bi-County Community Hospital in Warren is planning an early June celebration to mark the completion of two-part, $13-million expansion there. At the end of 2003, the hospital completed an expansion of its critical care unit. By late May, work is expected to be completed on a new surgery suite that hospital CEO Gary Popiel says will improve the hospital's ability to service out-patient surgical patients.
In Rochester, Crittenton Hospital is in the midst of an $86 million growth project. The new services will include a doubling in size of the emergency department, an expansion for laboratory and related services and a 500-space parking deck.
