The zone designation means that for the next 12 years, no property taxes will be paid on the $25-million-plus building.
Asset Acceptance will leave three leased buildings, of a combined 70,000 sf in Warren when it makes the move. The company says it has about 500 employees in Warren now, part of a national total of about 1,500 employees. The company's new headquarters building will have capacity for up to 1,600 employees, says Asset Acceptance chief financial officer Mark Redman.
Asset had about 30 employees 10 years ago and has been growing at an annual rate of some 60%.
"Obviously at some point, your ability to continue that rate of growth diminishes, but we think there are still more opportunities out there for us," Redman says.
Asset is scheduled to move into the new building by the end of the year.
