Artists' District Grows with New Apartment Complex

MOUNT RAINIER, MD-The Gateway Arts and Entertainment District continues to take shape with the start of development on the area's second live/work apartment property. The new 44-unit apartment building, which will also feature 5,000 sf of commercial space, will cost $14.5 million to develop.

MOUNT RAINIER-Work has gotten under way on the latest residential project in the recently designated Gateway Arts and Entertainment District, an artist laden area encompassing a two-mile stretch along Route 1. A new 44-unit apartment building will offer artists affordable units that feature expansive studio space, as well as room for living.

Minnesota-based nonprofit developer Artspace Projects is behind the as yet unnamed property, which will cost $14.5 million to realize. In addition to the below market-rate combination live/work units, the property will feature 5,000 sf of commercial space for arts-related establishments.
