Both of the buildings will be razed to make way for more parking spaces for the growing airport, which serves the Flint area and much of the northern suburbs of Detroit.
The $2.98 million project came after Northwest Airlines added nonstop flights from the airport to Orlando, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale in Florida last year, generating an increase in passenger volume.
Airport spokeswoman Pat Corfman says 650 spaces will probably be built this spring and another 650 spaces will be added as needed.
The airport recently opened a new 550-space parking lot last year.
More than 952,300 passengers used the airport in 2003, an increase of 31% over the previous year's total of 726,600.
