"Since fall 2003, we have been experiencing a surge in leasing activity throughout our portfolio, and these aggressive building plans are being undertaken in response to the demand on our inventory," MIE president and CEO Ed St. John says. "A high percentage of this activity is being stimulated by the formation of new business ventures and the expansion of existing small to medium-sized companies."

Most of the activity will take place in Maryland. There will be eight office projects in Anne Arundel County, with four of those buildings being constructed at the BWI Technology Center. In Baltimore County, MIE will erect seven new office structures, and two additional buildings will go up in Prince George's County. The remaining projects will be located in Howard County and Frederick County, MD, and at an unspecified site in Northern Virginia.
