GSA Takes 98,500 SF at Two Ballston

ARLINGTON, VA-The owner of Two Ballston Plaza has made plans to add a new tenant, a large tenant, to the roster of the 223,000-sf building. Trizec Properties Inc. has just wrapped up a five-year lease agreement with the US General Services Administration for 98,500 sf of space that will become home to offices of the US Department of Homeland Security. The department, created in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, has apparently stepped up its search for space throughout the District, Maryland and Virginia for the last six months.

Two Ballston Plaza was developed in 1988 as one facet of a three-building compound that reached completion in 1990. Situated at 1110 N. Glebe Rd., the Keyes Condon Florance-designed 11-story property boasts an easily accessible location off I-66. According to Trizec vice president Paul Schulman, the Two Ballston Plaza offering provides the Homeland Security office with, “appropriate space that is convenient to Downtown Washington and to other government offices that it was important to be close to.”
